Our first Christmas on the water. We sailed from Bayswater on the 23rd December with Alex and Ben joining us on board. There was a good breeze which got us down to Man-o-War Bay, Waiheke where we met up with Martin, Colm, Mum (Heather) and Aunty Rosemary on board “Itzadream”.
We had a very social evening and the next morning went for a brisk sail out toward Coromandel just for fun! Alex and Ben got to show off the sailing skills they learnt on Lasers in Christchurch. When we returned we went to Chamberalins Bay, Ponui and anchored up near Itzadream again.

Christmas day was beautiful and sunny and we celebrated in style, gathering together at 11am to toast absent friends and talk to cousins Peter and Tony on the phone. Lunch was a combined effort of roast lamb on the BBQ and hot ham as well as salads and accompaniments. Of course there were a few glasses of bubbles and wine over the course of the afternoon. Alex and Ben made a delicious trifle for desert and delivered it in style.

On boxing day we had an early start as Alex needed to return to Auckland for work. We had a slightly exciting time dropping them off in the dinghy to Howick beach (where they caught the bus). There was quite a swell which made launching the dinghy and getting aboard quite tricky, but luckily it all went off without a hitch.
